Following the Reds’ busy summer transfer window, the former England front-man expects a tougher challenge when they meet Liverpool again on Sunday.
“I’m quite sure that it’s going to be a close battle than when we last met,” Crouch told reports “That hurt Liverpool, a club like that do not get beat by six goals very often.
“It was an incredible day for us, our first half performance was probably the best we played all season – everything we hit seemed to go in.
“I’ve seen over the years that when big clubs come to the Britannia Stadium, they don’t relish it and we’ve turned over some big sides and taken some big scalps at home.
“But Liverpool are going to be wounded from that result and they’ll come out fighting.
“They’ve made some big signings this summer as well…we know it’s going to be a lot closer and a lot more difficult this year.”
